Kota Kinabalu Trip, Sabah, Malaysia (亚庇旅游,沙巴,马来西亚)- Day 2 (第二天)

In second day, we rent a car (cost RM120/day) to cover some outskirt attraction spot e.g : Upsite Down House, KDCA Cultural Village, St. Michael Catholic Church, Monsopiad Cultural Village and Tanjung Aru beach.

Our destination as below :

Upside Down House,
Located at Tuaran, Tamparuli. It is 27km from KK town, we took about 30min to reach there. It is a small Malay house purposely build upside down for visitor, there is an upside down car and washroom outside the house. We can only take photos outside the Upside Down House but not inside the house (for it's exclusive). It took as fast as 5 min to finished visit the inside of the house and I personally feel that there is nothing special in it and we paid RM10 for enterence fees.

Entrance fees : RM10 (Malaysian); RM18 (Non-Malaysian); RM5 (Student/Children below 12); FOC for children below 3.

KDCA Cultural Village (KDCA

The cultural village is located at Kadazandusun Cultural Association (KDCA) Hongkod Koisaan, Penampang which is about 15 minutes drive from Kota Kinabalu City. This cultural village is specially catered for the Kadazandusun tribes in Sabah. We do not pre-book the trip, and intend to go for the afternoon session trip, but no one is serving us when we arrived there. The hall was occupied for a wedding lunch, a cultural dance was performing for a big group of people and the cultural house is close for visit.

KDCA cultural village entrance

St. Michael Catholic Church (St. Michael
Build in 1947. Very charming church. It is only 18km from KK town. We drove there by GPS but it shown us to the grave at the backyard of the church. We reached there in rain and a couples were taking pre-wedding photos there. Unfortunately, the church is lock and we do not managed to go into it.

St Michael Chruch
Monsopiad Cultural Village (Monsopiad
It is a living museum located 16 km or about half an hour away from the KK City Centre. Monsopiad was a fearsome warrior (head hunter) who lived in the village of Kuai nearly 200 years ago.

Other interesting exhibits include the massive monolith which invokes a dozen legends, the traditional restaurant and of course Siou Do Mohoing, or the House of Skulls, where all 42 'trophies' of Monsopiad hang from the rafters.

Actually we reached there was too late to join all the tour. Compare with the KDCA, I will choose Monsopaid Cultural Village for my next visit, which I feel, it is more natural and interesting. The important is, I wanna to see their "House of Skulls" !

House of skull

Tanjung Aru Beach

We reach there by evening, just the time for sunset....after photo shooting session, we proceed to Welcome Seafood Restaurant which strongly recommend by tourist feedback in web. However, I am really disappointed with the crab we ordered. It is not fresh and tasteless. I think any seafood restaurant in Malaysia can cook better than them although their price is cheaper. The really weird thing is, it was full house.
